You don't have to be locked up to be in prison. It's a Long Walk to Freedom

These words, spoken by B&R Graduate Dwight Claxton at the 2007 Long Walk to Freedom capture the challenge facing individuals when they are released from jail or prison. Release from prison is only the beginning of a person's walk to freedom. True freedom comes as a person reconnects with himself, with friends and family and with society. Join us for the 2008 Long Walk to Freedom on Saturday, October 11.

The walk, covering approximately 3 miles, will include stations that represent the various barriers to success for ex-offenders, including housing, jobs and identification. Along with information about the barrier, each station will also present solutions to the challenge that are offered locally.
